2011 Scouting Combine

The NHL scouting combine has been taking place for the last two days in Toronto. This event gives the best draft eligable players the oportunity to show the scouts and General Managers of the NHL teams what they've got. Yesterday was Interview day where the top players met up with each NHL team to discuss their intentions for the future. This is a long and intimidating day for these prospects who meet up with their future bosses. Today was the Combine, where the prospects did pushups, situps, standing vertical jump and standing long jump. Some of the main prospects at the Combine that scouts are focusing on are Ryan Nugent Hopkins, Adam Larson, Jonathan Huberdeau, Sean Couturier, Gabriel Landeskog,  Ryan Strome and Ryan Murphy. Each of these players are trying to increase their ranking in the NHL Central Scouting. It is interesting because some scouts think that the Combine doesnt change their views on the players on ice performance and stats. Some players even opt out of the Combine with the opinion that it is useless. Taylor Hall last year days after he won the Memorial Cup for the second year in a row opted out of the combine. At the moment I am working on a mock draft for the blog. I should be finnished before the Draft at the end of June. I will give each team starting with Edmonton (Ending hopefully with Vancouver woot!) a player who I think they would/should pick.
